About Tory:
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) (#08615) with a Master’s degree in Social Work.
I am also an Advanced Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
My background includes over 20 years working with:
adults
families
children and youth
parents/caregivers
I have worked in various settings such as child development centres, public health, hospitals, mental health in-patient and out-patient programs, as well as 12 years in private practice.
I believe in the healing power of families and am passionate about working with families in which their young person is struggling with an:
eating disorder
depression
anxiety or
other mental health challenges.
My experiences working in mental health led me to pursue additional training in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and certification as an Advanced EFFT Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer in order to provide support to parents and caregivers (and clinicians), as well as teach them practical skills to support their loved ones struggling with mental health challenges and emotion dysregulation.
I aim to provide counselling that is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. I use a combination of evidence-based approaches including, but not limited to:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Mindfulness
Somatic Experiencing Therapy
Bowen Family System
Attachment Theory
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
If you or your family is at a loss of how to support one another through the challenges of mental health struggles, please reach out. I am here to provide a safe and supportive space for you, and to help you develop tools that can help shift the patterns that are keeping you stuck.
